Akume's Abuja Maneuver Undermines Alia in Benue Politics

In a significant political maneuver, George Akume, the current Secretary to the Government of the Federation and a veteran senator, utilized his influence in Abuja to challenge the primary election victory of Hyacinth Alia, the Governor of Benue State. Alia had initially won the primary candidacy for the APC, but Akume's camp successfully appealed to the APC's national working committee, which resulted in the annulment of Alia's victory and the replacement of seven candidates.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was informed of this decision. Akume, who has close ties to President Bola Tinubu, is seen as a key player in this political reshuffle.
