Kunle Afod Exits ANTP After Lagos Hotel Robbery Incident

Kunle Afod, a popular actor, disclosed that a deadly robbery incident at Moslado Hotel in Isolo, Lagos State, prompted his departure from the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP). The incident occurred when Afod and his film crew returned to the hotel after filming and found the premises surrounded by police the next morning.

The hotel receptionist had been murdered during the robbery, and other hotel workers were locked in a kitchen during the attack. The police questioned the film crew due to their similar length of stay with the suspects.

Following the incident, the crew was instructed to contribute money for police expenses, raising questions about the financial contributions made to ANTP. Afod noted that actors paid levies on productions and monthly contributions, totaling approximately ₦8 million within ten months.

The association's leadership stated that funds were used for office maintenance, which did not satisfy the actors' concerns. This disagreement led to Afod and others leaving ANTP, with Ibrahim Chatta identified as the leader of the exit.
