Hrgovic Defeats Allen, Set for Itauma Showdown in August

On May 16, 2024, Filip Hrgovic faced Dave Allen at Eco Power Stadium in Doncaster, winning the heavyweight contest by stoppage in the third round. Hrgovic, 33, showcased his superior boxing skills, landing consecutive right hands and dropping Allen with a left hook.

Referee Steve Grey controversially ruled a slip when Allen attempted to recover, leading to trainer Jamie Moore throwing in the towel at 2:37 of the third round. Despite the crowd's discontent, Allen accepted the defeat graciously.

Following this victory, Hrgovic, who holds a record of 20 wins and 1 loss with 15 stoppages, is now positioned to fight unbeaten British-Nigerian star Mose Itauma in August. Queensberry Promotions' George Warren confirmed that negotiations are underway for the bout, which is expected to take place in Manchester, rather than the initially anticipated O2 Arena in London.

Itauma, 21, currently holds the WBO mandatory challenger status.
