Stakeholders Commit to Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus

Stakeholders in Nigeria have expressed their commitment to sustainable development and lasting peace through the institutionalization of the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) nexus. This commitment was articulated by Dr.

Benard Doro, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, during a high-level roundtable on financing the HDP Nexus held in Abuja. Represented by Mrs.

Catherine Bulus, the minister acknowledged the contributions of the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), ActionAid Nigeria, and other partners in organizing the event. The Federal Government aims to enhance coordination across humanitarian, development, and peace sectors.

The newly inaugurated Policy Coherence and Learning Sub-Working Group will focus on policy alignment and cross-sector learning. Andrew Mamedu, Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria, emphasized the necessity of the HDP Nexus for addressing community challenges related to displacement and recovery.

Dr. Joseph Ochogwu, Director General of Peace and Conflict Resolution, highlighted the importance of collaboration among humanitarian and peace actors.

Dr. Tijjani Aliyu, Federal Commissioner of NCFRMI, noted the dialogue's goal of shaping humanitarian-development-peace strategies.
