John Overdeck Divorce: $6.2B Demand vs. $723M Offer

John Overdeck, co-founder of the $80 billion hedge fund Two Sigma Investments, is in a divorce battle with his wife, Laura Overdeck, who has been married to him for 20 years. Laura initiated divorce proceedings in early 2022, citing irreconcilable differences, and is demanding a settlement of $6.2 billion, while John is offering $723 million.

The case, described as one of the most dramatic divorce battles in U.S. history, is currently being heard at the New Jersey Superior Court in Newark. Laura's lawyers argue that John has strategically minimized her financial entitlement, while John's legal team contends that his stake in Two Sigma, founded two years before their 2002 wedding, should not be considered marital property.

Laura is seeking a 35% share of John's stake in Two Sigma, valued at $6.2 billion, along with hundreds of millions in Treasury bonds and equal control of the Overdeck Family Foundation. The court must determine the classification of John's stake in the hedge fund.
