The divorce case between billionaire hedge fund manager John Overdeck and his wife, Laura Overdeck, has escalated in a Newark courtroom, with Laura demanding approximately $6.2 billion from John’s stake in Two Sigma Investments. This demand comes as the couple's divorce trial unfolds, with Laura's legal team arguing for 35 percent of John's interest in the firm, which they value at $6.2 billion.

John, whose fortune is estimated at $8 billion by Forbes, has countered with a $723 million tax-free settlement offer. The central issue is whether the increase in Two Sigma's value during their marriage should be considered a marital asset.

John’s lawyers assert that the firm was established two years prior to their 2002 marriage, while Laura's team claims it had minimal value at that time. The couple, married for nearly two decades without a prenuptial agreement, began divorce proceedings in 2022.

This case is noted as potentially the largest contested divorce in New Jersey history.
