Asake's mother disclosed that she had arranged funds to send her son abroad for his studies, specifically to the United Kingdom, and had even obtained an international passport for this purpose. However, she was surprised when Asake insisted on enrolling at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Osun State.

Initially hesitant about his decision, she eventually accepted it, aided by the encouragement of popular Yoruba actor Muyideen Oladapo, who helped facilitate Asake's admission to the university. Asake's choice to study performing arts at OAU reflects his strong will and creative aspirations, which he later discussed in a podcast, explaining the meaning behind his nickname "Giran," which translates to "stubborn" in Yoruba.
