Peter Obi Claims Ability to Unite Nigeria Amid Criticism

Peter Obi, the presidential flag bearer for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has responded to critics questioning his ability to unite Nigeria. During an appearance on Sunday Politics on Channels Television, Obi dismissed claims that his presidency would exacerbate divisions, asserting that his track record demonstrates his commitment to national unity.

He referenced his humanitarian interventions, including visits to Borno State to console Ali Modu Sheriff after the loss of his brother to Boko Haram violence, and his donations of ₦50 million following severe flooding in the state. Obi highlighted his extensive travels across Nigeria, particularly in northern states such as Katsina, Kebbi, Gombe, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Sokoto, where he funded borehole projects and supported educational and healthcare initiatives.

He emphasized the importance of national reconciliation and healing longstanding divisions, stating that his presidency would prioritize unity and stability for a better Nigeria. Obi urged Nigerians to move beyond historical grievances to secure a brighter future.
