Fayemi Acknowledges Role in Tinubu's Presidency, Praises Obi

Kayode Fayemi, the former governor of Ekiti State, revealed in an interview on the State Affairs podcast with host Edmund Obilo that he contributed to Bola Tinubu's success in the 2023 presidential elections. Fayemi characterized the rise of Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, as a political phenomenon that has disrupted Nigeria's traditional power structures.

He acknowledged the internal crises within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and emphasized the need for political inclusivity and transparency in primary elections. Fayemi noted that Nigeria cannot thrive under a winner-takes-all political culture that excludes millions of citizens.

He called for a restructuring of the Nigerian federation to address these issues and admitted that the APC has lost its way, partly due to the influence of Peter Obi's candidacy.
