Davido May Not Support Tinubu's 2027 Re-election Bid

Afrobeats artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, expressed that he may not support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, despite the endorsement from his uncle, Ademola Adeleke, the Governor of Osun State. This statement was made during an interview with News Central TV, which gained traction on social media on Tuesday.

Governor Adeleke had recently reaffirmed his support for Tinubu following his victory in the Osun governorship election. Davido clarified that he feels no obligation to adopt his uncle's political views, stating, “Immediately he won, my uncle came out to declare his support for Tinubu, but as for me, I am not propelled to support anybody.” He mentioned that he does not currently have a preferred candidate for the upcoming presidential election, although he previously supported Atiku Abubakar.

Davido noted that if opposition parties remain divided, it could facilitate Tinubu’s re-election, as a united opposition would be more effective in challenging the incumbent.
