Oyo School Principal Recalls Harrowing Kidnapping Ordeal

Mrs. Alamu, the principal of a school in Oyo, shared her traumatic experience during her seven-week captivity after being abducted by gunmen. Speaking at a thanksgiving service at Antioch Baptist Church in Ogbomoso, she described the intense military airstrikes that occurred during the seventh week of her captivity, which heightened fears among the hostages.

She recounted a threatening encounter with the camp commander, who warned her of executing a captive due to the government's promise of their release. Alamu pleaded for a reduction in ransom demands and described the dire conditions, including hunger and illness, as the kidnappers refrained from cooking to avoid detection.

She expressed relief that they were not harmed during a night when they feared another hostage would be buried. Alamu's account highlights the psychological and physical challenges faced by her and the other captives during their ordeal.
