Oyo Principal Shares 56-Day Kidnapping Ordeal

Mr. Rachael Alamu, the principal of a school in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State, detailed a traumatic 56-day experience following a kidnapping incident that occurred on May 15. During this period, students and teachers were subjected to severe physical abuse and forced to trek through dense forests at night to evade security forces.

Alamu disclosed that the youngest children faced the harshest treatment, including being beaten and having their mouths tied. Despite her own escape from physical assault, she noted that many pupils were repeatedly beaten.

The ordeal ended with a successful military operation led by various security agencies, including the Nigerian Army and Nigeria Police Force, which resulted in the rescue of the victims. Alamu expressed gratitude for their safe return and highlighted the emotional toll of the experience, particularly on younger pupils who struggled with exhaustion and injuries.

Following their rescue, the victims underwent medical examinations and psychological evaluations, with support provided for their reintegration into the community.
