Dalung Condemns Killings in Plateau State, Urges Action

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, expressed his condemnation of the recent killings in Plateau State, which he described as a return to a "dark era." In a statement issued on Tuesday, Dalung lamented the barbaric and unacceptable murder of four young traders in Dorowa Babuj, Barakin Ladi Local Government Area on February 23. He noted that these incidents followed an earlier attack in which nine people lost their lives at a hotel, and three young Fulani herdsmen were later found dead after reportedly going missing.

Dalung warned that such incidents could fuel a dangerous cycle of reprisals across the state. He acknowledged the community's right to defend themselves when attacked but stressed that vengeance against innocent travelers would only deepen divisions and multiply grief.

He urged security agencies to fulfill their constitutional responsibility to protect lives and properties, insisted that the perpetrators be identified and prosecuted, and extended condolences to the bereaved families while calling on residents of Plateau State to break the cycle of retaliation.
