Anosike Promises to Recall 15,000 Sacked Workers in Abia

Kelechi Anosike, the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, stated that he would recall 15,000 civil servants who were allegedly sacked or prematurely retired by the current administration if he is elected governor in 2027. Anosike made this announcement on Thursday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Umuahia during the monthly congress of the NUJ Abia State Council.

He criticized Governor Alex Otti's administration for not prioritizing citizens' welfare, arguing that it is unjust to retire workers before they reach the required milestones of 35 years of service or 60 years of age. Anosike expressed concern over the high unemployment rate in Abia State, which he claimed is forcing youths to migrate to cities like Lagos and Abuja in search of jobs.

He promised to tackle unemployment through industrialization and youth-friendly policies. Additionally, he urged journalists to ask critical questions about governance rather than merely acting as political mouthpieces.
