IBB Golf Course Appeals for National Monument Status

Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem, Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of IBB International Golf and Country Club, has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to elevate the club to a national monument status.

She made the appeal during the flag-off ceremony for the rehabilitation and upgrade of the club by Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in Abuja. The golf course, established 35 years ago in Maitama, is considered one of Africa's scenic and futuristic golf courses.

Justice Dongban-Mensem highlighted the significance of investing in world-class facilities to harness youth talent and compete internationally, especially with Nigeria set to host the 2026 International Ladies Golf Championship. She stressed the club's potential as a hub for golf tourism and recreational activities, emphasizing the need to complete its upgrade to preserve its status as a symbol of national pride in sports excellence.
