Ibom Air Expands Fleet with New Airbus A220-300

Ibom Air has welcomed a new Airbus A220-300, marking the arrival of its third jet from the Airbus assembly facility in Mirabel, Canada. This addition increases Ibom Air’s fleet to 10 aircraft, consisting of 7 Bombardier CRJ-900s and 3 Airbus A220-300s.

The airline is projected to reach a cumulative passenger count of 5 million by the end of September 2026, having already carried 4,953,512 passengers across 65,152 scheduled flights. Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno emphasized the importance of this expansion, noting that five of the current aircraft were acquired under his administration to meet regional demand.

Ibom Air currently services 7 domestic destinations and 1 regional route to Accra, Ghana, with plans to expand to 12 destinations and 15 routes by 2027, including new connections to Douala, Libreville, and Malabo. The airline has injected over ₦60 billion into the Akwa Ibom economy and employs 753 full-time staff, with 64% being local indigenes.
