Umo Eno Announces New Airbus Acquisition for Ibom Air

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno announced the acquisition of a new Airbus aircraft for Ibom Air, describing it as a significant milestone that reflects his administration's commitment to expanding the state-owned airline and strengthening the aviation sector. This statement was made after Eno arrived at Ibom International Airport on Thursday.

The new aircraft increases the total number of Airbus aircraft to three since Eno took office in 2023, with two additional aircraft fully paid for, totaling five. Eno emphasized the importance of this development for both Ibom Air and Akwa Ibom State's aviation ecosystem.

He also mentioned progress at the Aviation Village, particularly the nearing completion of the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility, which is expected to create jobs and enhance the state's GDP. The new Airbus A220-300 is set to arrive at Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, on August 30, 2026, expanding Ibom Air's fleet to ten aircraft and improving connectivity within Nigeria and beyond.
