Ibom Air Welcomes Third Airbus A220-300 Aircraft

On Tuesday, Ibom Air welcomed its third Airbus A220-300 at the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This new aircraft, flown directly from the Airbus assembly facility in Mirabel, Canada, is part of the airline's strategy to enhance its operations as it approaches 5 million cumulative passengers by the end of September 2026.

Governor Umo Eno announced that Ibom Air has safely transported 4,953,512 passengers across 65,152 scheduled flights. The airline's fleet now consists of 10 aircraft, including 7 Bombardier CRJ-900s and 3 Airbus A220-300s, with five acquired under the current state administration.

Eno highlighted that over N60 billion has been injected into the Akwa Ibom local economy through airline operations, supporting 753 full-time employees, 64% of whom are Akwa Ibom indigenes. Ibom Air currently services seven domestic destinations and one regional hub, with plans to expand to 12 destinations and 15 routes, including new connections to Douala, Libreville, and Malabo.

Chairman Mfon Udom stated that the new A220 will restore domestic frequencies and enhance regional connectivity.
