Couple Marries in Flooded Philippine Church Amid Rains

On Tuesday, Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico tied the knot at the Saint John the Baptist church in Hagonoy, Philippines, which was flooded due to heavy rains that have affected the region for a month. The couple, both in their 30s, decided to proceed with the wedding despite the parish's advice to postpone due to rising floodwaters.

The ceremony took place in hip-deep water, with fewer than 15 attendees present. Wedding photographer Mikko Rey Alfonso noted that the church had been partially underwater for nearly a month.

The bride wore an off-shoulder white gown and had to alter her dress to navigate the floodwaters. Gilbert Chico, who works as a rigger in the Middle East, had originally planned the wedding for December but returned home early due to an ankle injury.

A video of the wedding was shared on the parish’s Facebook page, showcasing the couple's determination to celebrate their union despite the challenging circumstances.
