Nigeria's Ibrahim Takes Chair of UN Peacekeeping Committee

Ibrahim has assumed the chairmanship of the United Nations Special Committee on Peacekeeping Operations (C-34) from Canada, commending the outgoing chairman for his contributions. Ibrahim, who is Nigeria’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, pledged to lead with transparency, accountability, and effective collaboration. His leadership role in C-34, alongside his position as chairman of the United Nations Fifth Committee, reinforces Nigeria’s influence within the UN, especially given its history of contributions to international peacekeeping.

Ibrahim's appointment comes within his first 100 days in office, positioning him at the forefront of discussions on peacekeeping operations and global security challenges. He expressed gratitude to Canada for its leadership and aims to build on the progress made in the committee.
