ICPC Arrests Former Minister Nnaji for Certificate Forgery

Geoffrei Uchechukwu Nnaji, the former Minister of Science and Technology, was arrested by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on Wednesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. His arrest followed a bench warrant issued by the Abuja Division of the Federal High Court.

The ICPC's head of media and public communication, John Okor Odei, stated that Nnaji's arrest was part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of certificate forgery, specifically concerning his degree from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate submitted during the ministerial screening process in 2023. Despite multiple attempts to serve Nnaji with an invitation for an investigative interview, he failed to appear, prompting the legal action.

The Federal High Court had granted the ICPC the authority to arrest him to facilitate the investigation into these allegations.
