ICPC Chairman Advocates Integrity for Economic Stability

Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), emphasized the importance of integrity in public administration during his keynote address at the 4th Economic Confidential Lecture and 6th National Spokespersons Awards in Abuja. He argued that anti-corruption reforms should not be limited to law enforcement but must also focus on strengthening institutions to enhance economic stability and investment.

Aliyu linked the effectiveness of economic reforms to the reduction of corruption, which he stated diverts public resources and undermines public confidence. He revealed that the ICPC uncovered new cases of payroll fraud, including one official who placed 14 family members on the government payroll and another who enrolled his wife and children, collecting multiple salaries.

Additionally, Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, stressed the need for a comprehensive anti-corruption strategy that goes beyond arrests to include institutional strengthening.
