ICPC Chairman Advocates Anti-Corruption for Economic Stability

On [date not specified], Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), addressed the critical role of anti-corruption reforms in achieving economic stability during his keynote speech at the 4th Economic Confidential Lecture and 6th National Spokespersons Awards in Abuja. He asserted that integrity in public administration is essential for improving the investment climate and development outcomes.

Aliyu stated that corruption diverts public resources, weakens institutions, and erodes public confidence, which ultimately undermines economic transformation. He also highlighted the need for the anti-corruption campaign to evolve beyond mere arrests to strengthening institutions.

Additionally, Aliyu disclosed that the ICPC had uncovered new cases of payroll fraud, including an official who placed 14 family members on the government payroll and another who collected 13 salaries by enrolling relatives as public servants. The event also recognized Hakama Sidi-Ali from the Central Bank of Nigeria as the 2026 Spokesperson of the Year.
