Ex-Minister Geoffrei Nnaji Arrested for Credential Forgery

Geoffrei Uchechukwu Nnaji, the former Minister of Science and Technology, was arrested on July 1, 2026, at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. His arrest followed an executive bench warrant issued by the Federal High Court due to his failure to respond to multiple invitations from the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding an investigation into allegations of border forgery related to his academic credentials.

Specifically, the investigation concerns a degree certificate from the University of Nigeria Nsukka and a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate submitted during the ministerial screening process in 2023. The ICPC's statement, released on Wednesday, indicated that Nnaji was taken into custody after being apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) and that the investigation would continue diligently as per the law.
