ICPC to Monitor Borno Education Projects for Transparency

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has announced plans to monitor education-related projects in Borno State to ensure transparency and quality service delivery in primary and secondary schools. Linus Gubbi, the ICPC Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner for Borno and Yobe states, disclosed this initiative on Wednesday following a sensitization meeting with the Directors and staff of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board in Maiduguri.

Gubbi highlighted the meeting's role in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing regarding procurement rules and whistleblower protection. He stated that the ICPC aims to monitor visible projects, such as classroom buildings, subject to approval from headquarters.

Gubbi reassured the board members of the agency's commitment to safeguarding whistleblower identities. Helen Mshelia, the Permanent Secretary of the Borno State Universal Basic Education Board, described the session as impactful and affirmed the board's commitment to adhering to established rules and regulations.
