ICPC Declares No Indictment for Gbajabiamila Amid Scandal

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has stated it will not indict Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, regarding allegations involving his chief of staff, Adeyemi. Adeyemi is set to appear in a Federal High Court in Abuja on charges of border forgery and impersonation.

He has dismissed the allegations as a misrepresentation of the situation. The presidency, represented by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed the ICPC to investigate the matter, with a report expected within 30 days.

Adeyemi claims to have paid Gbajabiamila a sum of N400 million through a proxy for facilitating an appointment. He has also alleged that the EFCC seized properties related to the case.

The controversy raises questions about public accountability and transparency within the government, with calls for an independent investigation into the allegations against Adeyemi.
