Idoma Association USA Urges Tinubu for Military Action

The Idoma Association USA has formally petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the escalating violence against the Idoma people in Benue State, specifically calling for immediate military intervention to halt the attacks by armed herdsmen. In an open letter signed by President Dr.

Edwin Ocha and Secretary Chief Sylvest Onch, the association highlighted the recent attacks in Akpachi Village, Ugboju, Otukpo Local Government Area, which occurred on July 11-12, 2026, resulting in at least 20 deaths and numerous injuries. The letter emphasized that these attacks are part of a decade-long campaign of violence that has claimed hundreds of lives across various local government areas in Benue State.

The association criticized the government's failure to act on prior intelligence regarding the attacks and urged for the establishment of permanent security outposts in vulnerable communities. They called for thorough investigations and the prosecution of perpetrators, asserting that the Idoma people deserve protection as bona fide citizens of Nigeria.
