Police Chief Disu Launches Safe School Initiative in Abuja

On Thursday, during the flag-off of the Police Community Relations Committee’s Safe School Initiative in Abuja, the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, assured parents that their children are safe in schools across Nigeria. Represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, Disu stated that the Nigeria Police Force is responsible for strengthening security around schools and has developed internal warning and response mechanisms for schools to alert security authorities to threats.
The initiative aims to address the increasing targeting of schools by criminal elements. PCRC National Chairman, Alhaji Mogaji Ibraheem Olaniyan, announced the mobilization of 10,000 volunteers and the deployment of CCTV cameras, starting with three cameras in the Federal Capital Territory.
The initiative will focus on schools in rural areas, which are more vulnerable to attacks. Olaniyan called for support from individuals and organizations to enhance surveillance around schools.
