IGP Olatunji Disu Advocates for Creative Economy Security Desk

On September 18, 2026, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu delivered a lecture at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau state, to participants of the Senior Executive Course 48. He proposed the creation of an Orange Economy Security and Intellectual Property Coordination Desk within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhance security for Nigeria's creative industries.

The lecture, titled “The Orange Economy and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development in Nigeria: The Role of the Nigeria Police Force,” discussed the interrelationship between security, entrepreneurship, and the growth of creative sectors such as film, music, fashion, and digital content. Disu emphasized the importance of protecting intellectual property and proposed measures including specialized policing, inter-agency collaboration, and improved engagement with stakeholders.

He also called for stronger cooperation with the Nigerian Copyright Commission and highlighted the need for effective policing to safeguard public safety and intellectual assets.
