IGP Disu Advocates for Support of Retired Police Officers

On Tuesday, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu delivered a keynote address emphasizing the need for a stronger support system for retired police officers. He urged the government, private sector, and civil society organizations to collaborate in creating sustainable welfare programs that would allow retired officers to live dignified and productive lives.

Disu highlighted that police work is a lifelong commitment, and retired officers should not be viewed as having reached the end of their relevance but rather as entering a meaningful phase of life where they can still contribute to national development through mentorship and community service. He stressed the importance of acquiring additional skills and pursuing further education before early retirement, as well as making prudent financial decisions.

Disu reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to improving the welfare of its personnel, including enhancing healthcare services and psychological support. He called for collective efforts to improve the quality of life for retired officers, commending initiatives that promote mentorship and welfare support.
