IGP Disu Mourns Officer Killed in Oyo Rescue Operation

The Inspector General of Police, IG Disu, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a police officer killed during a rescue operation in Oyo State. This operation was part of a response to the abduction of 39 schoolchildren and 7 teachers in the Oriire Local Government Area.

At least two teachers were reported killed by terrorists during this incident. The rescue mission involved a joint effort from various security agencies, including the police, army, and DSS, and lasted 56 days in the bush before successfully reuniting the victims with their families.

During a prayer session at police headquarters in Abuja, IG Disu commended the bravery of the officers involved and assured that the welfare of the slain officer's family and other injured personnel would be prioritized. He called for public cooperation in reporting suspicious activities to enhance security efforts, emphasizing that the fight against insecurity requires collaboration among all security agencies.
