IGP Disu Orders Rescue of Abducted Worshippers in Niger

On Saturday, October 21, 2023, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, directed security operatives in Niger State to enhance efforts to rescue worshippers abducted during an attack in the Dekara District of Borgu Local Government Area. Disu issued this directive during a working visit to the state, where he evaluated the security situation and ongoing rescue efforts.

He expressed condolences from the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to the Niger State Government, affected communities, and families of the victims, reaffirming that rescuing the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice are top priorities. Disu praised the Commissioner of Police in Niger State, CP Adamu Elleman, for the command's response and situation reporting.

He ordered the Niger State Police Command to conduct intelligence-led operations and improve collaboration with other security agencies and local communities. The IGP also met with Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba and the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Dr Umar Farouk Bahago, to discuss the incident and the need for stronger community engagement.
