Adekanmbi Declares Independence from Makinde in Oyo Race

Abimbola Adekanmbi, the governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement in Oyo State, declared in an interview on Arise News that he is not a surrogate of the current Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. Adekanmbi, who previously served as the Commissioner for Finance, asserted that he has his own manifesto and strategy for governing the state.

He emphasized his commitment to taking full responsibility for his decisions and actions if elected, stating, “I’m owning every action I take as governor.” Adekanmbi clarified that the emergence of candidates for various elective positions was not solely determined by Governor Makinde but involved consultations and public engagements across different sectors and regions of Oyo State. He noted that the process was collaborative, involving input from various stakeholders, rather than a unilateral decision by the governor.
