Onjeh Withdraws Support for Tinubu, Joins NDC's Obi

Daniel Onjeh, an aspirant for the Benue South Senatorial District from the All Progressives Congress (APC), announced on Thursday that he has withdrawn his support for President Bola Tinubu and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia. This decision comes ahead of the 2027 general elections and follows his recent meeting with Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Onjeh, who previously served as the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), expressed his support for the NDC's presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stating he is now “humbly Obidient.” In a social media post, he indicated that his principles had been misunderstood by APC leaders, leading to his decision to embrace the Obidient movement. Although Onjeh did not provide specific reasons for his withdrawal, it may be linked to his failure to secure the APC senatorial ticket in the primary election held in May 2026.
