IMC and German Embassy Foster Peace Leadership in Kaduna

The Interfaith Mediation Centre (IMC) and the German Embassy in Abuja organized a seminar in Kaduna aimed at promoting peace leadership among diverse religious and cultural groups. The seminar brought together Christian and Muslim faith leaders, women peace advocates, traditional rulers, government officials, civil society organizations, youth leaders, and media practitioners.

Participants developed a communiqué that emphasized the importance of sustaining peace through dialogue and mutual respect. The communiqué urged religious leaders to discourage hate speech and inflammatory rhetoric while promoting reconciliation and coexistence.

Recommendations included establishing a women's interfaith peace council in Kaduna State, coordinating advocacy efforts, and implementing conflict prevention activities. The seminar also called for regular capacity-building programs for women faith leaders and highlighted the need for economic empowerment initiatives.

Additionally, it urged the Kaduna State Government to institutionalize policies that promote women's participation in peacebuilding and to provide adequate funding for related programs.
