Imo Specialist Hospital Suspends Staff Amid Renovation Drive for Healthcare Upgrade

Imo State Specialist Hospital in Owerri has suspended contract staff and consultants to pave the way for ongoing renovation and upgrading of the facility. The directive, signed by Nwanedo Ogechi, will take effect on October 1, 2025.

This decision is part of Governor Hope Uzodimma's comprehensive healthcare upgrade program to improve service capacity. The suspended staff have been instructed to hand over hospital property to their respective Heads of Department.

The hospital management emphasized the renovation's importance in repositioning the hospital as a premier medical center capable of meeting the healthcare needs of residents. Chief Medical Director Rajinda Ibekube reaffirmed the commitment to excellence in service delivery.
