CLEEN Foundation Advocates for Gender Inclusiveness in Nigeria

The CLEEN Foundation, a non-governmental organization, has launched an advocacy initiative aimed at enhancing gender inclusiveness in Nigeria's governance and public decision-making. This effort is part of a three-day stakeholder policy dialogue held in Owerri, Imo State.

Mr. Peter Maduoma, the Executive Director of the Foundation, highlighted that while Nigeria has established significant policies and frameworks for gender equality, such as the National Gender Policy and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Act, the translation of these policies into effective institutional practices remains a challenge. The workshop aims to evaluate existing frameworks, identify operational bottlenecks, and develop measurable commitments towards gender-responsive governance.

Maduoma pointed out constraints like weak institutional ownership and limited resources that hinder implementation. The dialogue seeks to improve coordination among state actors and enhance the integration of gender considerations into planning and budgeting.

The Norwegian Government is funding this project through the Norwegian Embassy, reflecting the Foundation's commitment to integrity and professionalism.
