Rofiat Imuran Joins Aston Villa Women Ahead of Season

Rofiat Imuran, a 22-year-old defender from Nigeria, has signed with Aston Villa Women for the upcoming 2026/27 Women’s Super League season. The announcement was made by Aston Villa on Sunday, with the transfer subject to visa approval.

Imuran is the ninth addition to the squad as manager Natalia Arroyo aims to enhance the team's capabilities. She began her career in the Nigeria Women’s Football League with Sunshine Queens and Rivers Angels before moving to France, where she played for Stade de Reims for two seasons, making 27 league appearances and scoring seven goals.

In 2024, she transitioned to English football with London City Lionesses. Imuran made her senior international debut for Nigeria in 2022 and participated in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

After her transfer, Imuran expressed excitement about joining Aston Villa, highlighting the club's history and ambitions. Marisa Ewers, Aston Villa’s Director of Women’s Football, praised Imuran's pace and energy, stating her attributes align well with the team's playing style.
