Delta Governor Oborevwori Receives Procurement Excellence Award

Delta State Governor Rt. Hon.

Sheriff Oborevwori was awarded for excellence in public procurement by the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) during an open ceremony in Asaba. The award was presented to Governor Oborevwori and his deputy, Sir Mondai Onyem, at a two-day public procurement enlightenment workshop.

The governor disclosed that Delta State spent ₦654.5 billion on 362 strategic projects by 2025 without incurring new debt, adhering to the Delta State Public Procurement Law of 2020. This achievement is significant as many Nigerian states heavily rely on borrowing for infrastructure financing.

The award underscores the importance of transparent procurement processes as a tool against corruption and reflects a shift towards institutional governance rather than personal-driven approaches. The administration's efforts to strengthen procurement frameworks align with international best practices, aiming to ensure value for money in public projects.
