Indian Court Acquits Arvind Kejriwal in Corruption Case

On Friday, an Indian court acquitted Arvind Kejriwal, the former Chief Minister of Delhi and leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), in a long-running corruption investigation. Kejriwal, who was arrested in March 2024 on allegations of receiving kickbacks for liquor license allocations, spent several months in jail before the court's ruling.

He described the verdict as a victory for truth and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of orchestrating a political conspiracy against him to undermine the AAP. The court also cleared former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia and 21 others of charges related to the case.

Kejriwal, who began his career as a tax collector, has faced multiple criminal investigations in recent years, particularly as the AAP prepares for the upcoming elections in February 2025, where he aims to retain his position amid ongoing judicial proceedings.
