INEC Opens Media Accreditation for 2026 Bye-Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the opening of online accreditation for journalists and media organizations intending to cover the bye-elections scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026. A statement from the office of the Director of Information and Voter Education indicated that the accreditation portal will be accessible from Monday, August 24, 2026, and will close on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 12:00 midnight.

The bye-elections will take place in several constituencies, including Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye federal constituency in Gombe State, Disina state constituency and Sakwa state constituency in Bauchi State, Udu state constituency in Delta State, and Dawakin Kudu state constituency in Kano State. Media organizations are encouraged to apply promptly and ensure that all necessary information and documents are uploaded before the portal's closure.
