INEC Awaits Police Report on PVC Theft Ahead of Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently awaiting a police report on an attack that occurred on Sunday in Osun State, where suspected gunmen targeted officials distributing Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Odo-Otin Local Government Area. Mohammed Haruna, the National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the commission would consider various options, including reprinting the stolen PVCs, depending on the police's findings.

The attack took place at Oyinlola DC Primary School, where approximately 10 armed thugs disrupted the distribution process, firing shots into the air and stealing three packs of PVCs. The Osun State Police Command, led by Commissioner Ibrahim Gotan, condemned the incident and has initiated a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.

The police have deployed tactical and intelligence resources to recover the stolen PVCs and have urged the public to remain calm and assist in the investigation.
