Arewa Youth Forum Commends INEC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The Arewa Youth Forum (AYF) commended the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and its Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, for enhancing the transparency and credibility of recent elections during a visit to INEC headquarters in Abuja on June 25, 2026.

AYF, led by its Board of Trustees Chairman Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim Gujungu, praised INEC's logistical improvements and the deployment of technology, including the Bi-modal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS), which aims to eliminate electoral fraud. The forum expressed confidence in INEC's commitment to a technology-driven electoral process, which they believe is a significant advancement for Nigeria's democracy.

They rejected politically motivated attacks against INEC, asserting that public confidence in the commission remains strong despite misinformation. AYF proposed collaboration with INEC on grassroots voter education campaigns and mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 general elections, including the presidential election scheduled for January 15, 2027, and the governorship elections on February 6, 2027.
