Peter Obi Claims INEC Forced His Exit from Labour Party

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alleged that he was compelled to leave the Labour Party due to pressure from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). During an interview on Arise TV on Thursday, Obi stated that INEC informed him that his faction of the Labour Party would not be recognized if he continued to stay in the party.

He noted that this was confirmed when INEC did not recognize his faction a week after his departure. Obi further accused the government of intentionally destabilizing opposition political parties, claiming that the ongoing crisis within the Labour Party and other opposition groups was part of a broader strategy to weaken them.

He referenced comments made by the president, who expressed satisfaction when problems arose within other parties, suggesting that the government was actively working to undermine opposition.
