INEC and ICPC Train Staff for Corruption-Free Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) organized a two-day workshop in Abuja to train staff on promoting integrity and preventing corruption in preparation for the 2027 general elections. The workshop, themed "Corruption-Free Elections: Integrity Matters," was opened by INEC Chairman Prof.

Joash Amupitan and featured Mr. Mai Agbamuch Mbu, who stressed the importance of integrity in electoral management.

He noted that compromised elections weaken public confidence in democratic institutions, which can hinder national development. ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu SAN and Mr.

Henri Emor also participated, highlighting corruption as a significant obstacle to development. Emor warned that a lack of integrity in the electoral process could lead to increased costs and disputes.

The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacity of electoral personnel and foster collaboration between INEC and ICPC to ensure free and fair elections in Nigeria.
