INEC Awards Certificates to New Anambra LG Chairmen

The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) issued certificates of return to the newly elected 21 local government chairmen on Tuesday, following the local government elections held on Saturday. The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) secured all 21 chairmanship seats and 364 councillorship positions.

Genevieve Osakwe, the State Chairman of ANSIEC, emphasized the commission's mandate to issue these certificates and urged the newly elected officials to effectively fulfill their duties. She commended the electoral process and assured that improvements would be made in future elections.

Osakwe stated, “We urge the newly elected officials to prioritize development and good governance in their respective localities.” Ikechukwu Okakpu, the newly elected chairman of Njikoka Local Government Area, expressed gratitude on behalf of his colleagues to their constituents for their trust in leadership roles. The presentation ceremony was attended by election observers, security agencies, and media representatives.
