APGA Wins All Positions in Anambra Local Government Elections

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has achieved a significant victory in the Anambra State local government elections held last Saturday, winning all 21 local government chairmanship positions and all 362 ward councillorship positions. Mrs. Genevieve Osakwe, the Chairman of the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), announced that all APGA candidates were officially declared winners following a peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible electoral process.

In her remarks, Osakwe addressed claims regarding the Young Progressives Party (YPP) withdrawing from the elections due to violence and malpractice, stating that the commission was unaware of such a withdrawal. The YPP candidate received 1,658 votes, while the APGA candidate secured 50,169 votes in Anambra East LGA.

Osakwe expressed gratitude to the citizens for their confidence in the commission and acknowledged the support of security agencies and the media. Newly elected Hon Emmanuel Igwebuike, Chairman of Ayamelum Local Government Area, commended Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo and others for fostering a conducive electoral environment.
