INEC Schedules Bye-elections for September 2026

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that bye-elections will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026, across four Nigerian states: Gombe, Kano, Bauchi, and Delta. This electoral event will include one federal constituency election in the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe State.

Additionally, Bauchi State will conduct two state constituency elections for Disina and Sakwa. In Delta State, voters will elect a representative for the Udu State Constituency, while the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano State will also hold a bye-election.

The confirmation of the date was made by Tunde Oketola, the Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of INEC, during an interview with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday. Further details regarding the electoral timetable, guidelines, and other arrangements are expected to be provided by INEC ahead of the polls.
