INEC Allegedly Plans to Declare Osun Election Inconclusive

The Imole Campaign Council, which is the campaign organization for Ademola Adeleke, the current Governor of Osun State and Accord Party governorship candidate, has raised concerns regarding an alleged plan by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to declare the ongoing governorship election inconclusive. Bamidele Salam, the Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the council, described this alleged plan as “sinister” and an attempt to subvert the will of the voters in Osun.

The campaign council claims that this purported move is being coordinated by certain governors and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to thwart what they describe as Adeleke’s “imminent victory.” They called upon INEC Chairman Joash Amupitan and the electoral commission to ensure a free, fair, and credible election. Additionally, they urged security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, to enhance security at collation centers, citing incidents of ballot box hijacking by suspected thugs.
