INEC Extends Voter Registration Deadline in Oyo State

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced a two-week extension of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise for eligible residents of Oyo State, now set to conclude on Sunday, July 26, 2026. This extension aims to facilitate more Nigerians in registering and updating their voter records ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Professor Rahmon Adeniran Tella, the Oyo State Resident Electoral Commissioner, emphasized that the extension is available for citizens who are 18 years and older, first-time registrants, voters wishing to transfer their registration, replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards, or correct personal details. Tella urged residents not to wait until the final days to register, warning of potential congestion and long queues at registration centers.

Additionally, he announced the introduction of a Self-Service Online Registration Portal for first-time voters, allowing them to register conveniently without visiting INEC offices. Tella reaffirmed INEC's commitment to a transparent and inclusive voter registration process.
